AUS students volunteer in Food for the Needy campaign
Forty-two student volunteers participated in the AUS Community Services division's annual Food for the Needy campaign on February 23. The student volunteers went to Al-Ihsan Charity Association in Ajman to distribute food parcels consisting of rice, sugar, oil, condensed milk and vegetables to less-fortunate families that usually visit the association for help.
"Our student volunteers' efforts during the used book sale on campus yielded positive results in terms of raising funds for another charity initiative. The Food for the Needy campaign was also funded through this sale. I thank our volunteers for their enthusiasm and efforts for supporting our charity initiatives at AUS. Special thanks to the AUS community for donating their used books and to those who supported the Food for the Needy campaign by helping us fill and distribute the food parcels," said Dr. Moza Al Shehhi, Dean of Students.
"I truly enjoyed working with the volunteers today and I can't wait to join the next activities," said student volunteer and electrical engineering sophomore Yara Kassam, commenting on the experience.
The event was organized by Office of Student Affairs' Community Services division in collaboration with Al Ihsan Charity Association, Ajman.
