AUS teams wins at RTA Hackathon
Two students from American University of Sharjah (AUS) placed first in the 2019 Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) Hackathon that was hosted at Burj Khalifa, April 21–23. This was the third Hackathon organized by the RTA to find advanced transport solutions through creativity, while steering sustainability.
Omar Mohamed and Elhoussine Talab, students from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, developed a facial recognition solution for public transit access which allows commuters to gain access without the use of tokens. The team was advised by Dr. Ra'afat Abu-Rukba, Assistant Professor of Computer Engineering.
Thirteen teams participated in the event.
