Business students talk ethics with Petrofac expert
Marcelo Cardoso, Group Head of Compliance at Petrofac, presented a talk at American University of Sharjah's (AUS) School of Business Administration (SBA) in December 2014. The interactive session, entitled "Looking at Corporate Compliance in Ethical Decision Making and Corporate Culture," addressed several issues related to ethics in corporate governance and compliance such as the importance of compliance in the corporate arena, how corporate culture relates to ethical decision making in business, and compliance versus value-based cultures, to name a few.
Such talks are essential to AUS business students as, according to the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AASCB) accreditation requirements, all business majors are required to take a business ethics course. The seminar aimed to enhance their knowledge on the subject matter, as well as provide them a firsthand perspective into the industry's ethical framework in both the Middle East and North Africa region and internationally from industry professionals such as Cardoso.
The event was organized by the Department of Management of the AUS School of Business Administration in cooperation with the Pearl Initiative.
