CAS students win Best Visual Report category at Abdee Awards
Two students from the Department of Mass Communication at American University of Sharjah (AUS) recently won the Abdee Visual Report prize in the Best Visual Report category which featured Sharjah’s Wasit Wetland Center.
In their prize-winning report, Dana Bou Fakhreddine and Kateryna Kadabashy paid tribute to His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah and President of AUS, and his vision of embracing nature and environmental sustainability as a key pillar of development in the emirate of Sharjah. It focused on how the Wasit reserve, once a waste ground, has been converted into a vibrant habitat for a wide range of birds and plants.
Bou Fakhreddine commented on her success and said:
“We are ecstatic about winning the Best Visual Report. At the beginning, we were scared because we had never used snapchat as a platform for reporting news, but when we saw the video we realized that our hard work had paid off.”
