College of Engineering at AUS and Dubai Municipality collaborate on executive education programs
The College of Engineering (CEN) at American University of Sharjah (AUS) launched three executive education programs in collaboration with Dubai Municipality recently.
As part of Dubai Municipality’s “Careers of the Future” initiative, the courses were designed based on areas of municipal work including a 3D Printing Certificate Program, Food Safety Analytics Certificate Program, and an Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Data Science Certificate Program. The programs are a result of Dubai Municipality's keenness to develop human capital and enhance capabilities through training, development and early preparation of cadres to ensure the use of technologies in line with Dubai's future vision.
“Training recipients will enhance their theoretical and practical knowledge in these three areas, as they will receive their training from world-class faculty members who have expertise to boost industry position in the marketplace. The CEN Executive Education Program offers everything industries need to sharpen their competitive edge,” said Dr. Rami Hawileh, Professor in Civil Engineering and the CEN Coordinator of Executive Education.
The 3D Printing Certificate Program will train select Dubai Municipality engineers on recent advances in 3D-printing technologies, digital construction, 3D mix designs, mechanical properties of 3D-printed concrete, 3D structural design, and construction management and automation. The program began last month, with the course held in CEN’s state-of-the-art technical laboratories.
CEN will bring its Food Safety Analytics Certificate Program and the AI and Data Science Certificate Program to the Dubai Municipality premises. The first program provides insights into data queries and quality issues; data analytics, it's applications and visualization; and recent trends and technologies in food safety. The second program offers training in Python programming, Machine Learning (ML), time series forecasting, python libraries for machine learning marketing and retail analytics, web and social media analytics, finance and risk analytics, and software tools for data visualization.
“We have already kicked off our Food Safety Analytics Certificate Program and 3D Printing Certificate Program, and we look forward to beginning the delivery of our AI and Data Science Certificate Program. We believe in social responsibility and the importance of engaging with the community, which means more industry collaborations and partnerships for CEN to enhance research and innovation that align with the UAE’s innovative agenda,” said Dr. Hawileh.
CEN offers several executive education programs to industry partners in the private and public sectors. From its professional training programs to its faculty members’ internationally recognized research projects, CEN has a proven track record of applying its specialized technical knowledge to create solutions for industry partners. The college’s current executive education programs are Certificate of Fire Safety Engineering, Professional Certificate in 3D Printing, Professional Certificate in Food Safety Analytics, and Professional Certificate in AI and Data Science. The college also delivered certificate programs and training courses recently on Project Management for Business Excellence, Six Sigma Green Belt, Data Analytics Workshop, Project-Based Learning, Project Management Professional Exam Preparation Course, Women Empowerment in Organizations, Simulation-Based Project Management, The Art and Science of Design Thinking, Structural Modeling using ANSYS, Fundamentals of Structural Dynamics using ANSYS, Healthcare Supply Chain Management, and Introduction to ANSYS-Finite Element Analysis using ANSYS APDL and Workbench.
