Cutting-edge courses offered at SBM
The AUS School of Business and Management (SBM) will offer three new courses in Spring 2013: Luxury Brand Management (MKT 494), Introduction to e-Marketing and Social Media (MKT 294) and Business Intelligence (MIS 394).
Luxury Brand Management introduces students to a theoretical and practical understanding of product development, pricing, accessibility (distribution) and communication when seeking to gain access to consumers in luxury industries. Introduction to e-Marketing and Social Media offers an overview of the technology that enables e-marketing and its social and commercial applications in today's global marketplace, while Business Intelligence enables students to be better-positioned to be hired, retained and promoted. This special topics course exposes students to a range of applications and technologies for gathering, storing, analyzing and providing access to data to help make business decisions.
According to Dr. Nicholas Ashill, Head, Department of Marketing, "We are very excited about the development and delivery of these three new courses in Spring 2013. As the Chalhoub Group professor of Luxury Brand Management, I will be teaching the Luxury Brand Management course. The course will expose students to leaders of the luxury industry in the Middle East and in doing so will illustrate the wide variety of career opportunities available in the luxury industry and related fields."
"We will also be offering new courses in social media and business intelligence," added Dr. Ashill. "The social media course will examine the strategic use of social media such as Facebook, Twitter and YouTube as relationship-building platforms in today's fast-moving marketing campaigns. The Business Intelligence course allows students to get hands-on experience with SAP, a global leader in business intelligence. Students will learn about a range of applications for gathering and analyzing information to make effective decisions."
