Director of AUS Academic Support Center keynote speaker at first NACADA Global Advising Week
To celebrate its 40th anniversary, NACADA: The Global Community for Academic Advising, will hold a Global Advising Week from May 3-9, 2020. Dr.Mehvash Ali, who is a member of the NACADA Board of Directors and AUS Director of Academic Support Services, will launch the week with her keynote speech.
NACADA provides strong support for individuals dedicated to delivering high quality academic advising on campuses. In what will be an annual event during the first week of May, NACADA will celebrate the work of advisors, tutors, personal tutors, counselors and coaches that advise students around the globe. The global celebration will recongize and honor academic advising in its many impactful forms.
Speaking about this premiere event, Dr. Ali, the first person from the country and the region to be elected to the NACADA Board of Directors, said:
“Advising is an integral part of student success and is so much more than just telling students what courses to take. Advisors across AUS work hard on a daily basis to identify barriers to success, cultivate support systems, increase engagement, navigate academic policies and graduation requirements, and develop appropriate success skills. I want to extend my thanks to the fantastic advisors at AUS and especially to ASC-FYE advising team for working so diligently on behalf of our students.”
A schedule of the week’s events can be access here. All the events are free and open to all.
