Hundreds of school children attend interactive play held at AUS
Hundreds of students from schools in Sharjah and Dubai enjoyed and participated in an exciting interactive play presented at American University of Sharjah (AUS) today, Wednesday February 1. The play, entitled Virtue Reality, was presented by Story Makers, a theater group from West Palm Beach, Florida, and was held as part of the First AUS International Theater Festival currently underway.
Students from Al Maarifa International School, Philadelphia Private School, and Dubai International School, attended the performance held at the university's main auditorium. The play revolved around a 'Wheel of Virtue' which audience members were invited to spin. It involved a little 'character education' with the various characters to see which virtues they had and which ones they needed to acquire. During the performance, the audience got a chance to meet the famous and not-so-famous, the good and not-so-good, the real and not-so-real, and to learn what Virtue Reality was all about.
The First AUS International Theater Festival, which began yesterday, comprises a host of activities and events that include plays, workshops, lectures and seminars. Institutions from within and outside the UAE - including Michigan State University, Texas Tech University, William Paterson University and Palm Beach Atlantic University, along with several theater companies of international and local artists such as Double Edge Theatre and Department of Theatre - are taking part in the festival.
