New AUSAA board holds its first meeting
The American University of Sharjah Alumni Association (AUSAA) recently held online voting to elect its new board members. With voting administered by the Office of Advancement and Alumni Affairs (OAAA), the following alumni officers were elected to represent the association and AUS alumni for a two-year term, which began on June 1, 2022:
● President: Ali Lootah (College of Architecture, Art and Design, 2013)
● Vice President: Mahmood Mian (School of Business Administration, 2003)
● Executive of Council: Noora Alshehhi (School of Business Administration, 2011)
● Treasurer: Areej Makda (School of Business Administration, 2021)
● Executive of Administration: Dania Atatreh (College of Engineering, 2021)
The newly elected board members held their first council meeting on June 5 to discuss the strategies, goals and objectives that will be the driving force of the association for the next two years.
Dr. Susan Mumm, AUS Chancellor, congratulated the newly elected leaders and wished them success in fulfilling their responsibility of taking AUSAA to greater heights of excellence and achievement.
“As a group of committed alumni volunteers, you are part of the university’s growth by providing a voice for the AUS alumni community and promoting ongoing connections between graduates and the university. You all have seen AUS through different experiences, and this is how you will support and help improve AUS,” said Dr. Mumm.
Rania Morsi, Acting Executive Director of Advancement and Alumni Affairs at AUS, welcomed the new officers as the leaders of the alumni body.
“You are in charge of creating this strong and vital network for the entire alumni community. I am proudly standing here to remind you that AUS alumni have already ascended the career and professional ladder as ministers, heads of diplomatic missions, doctorates in many academic fields, acclaimed artists, executives in board rooms, and recipients of prestigious awards in industry and in academic disciplines, said Morsi.
New AUSAA President Ali Lootah thanked his fellow council members for their support and spoke of the board’s commitment to leading the AUS Alumni Association to the highest scopes of fulfillment.
“As a TEAM, Together Everyone Achieves More. Commitment, communication, dedication, honesty, loyalty and presence are the core values of the Alumni Association,” said Lootah.
He also discussed the association’s goals for enhancing alumni engagement, communication and alumni giving.
