His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member, Ruler of Sharjah and President of American University of Sharjah (AUS), chaired the AUS Board of Trustees meeting held June 12 on the university’s campus.
His Highness was briefed on the university’s achievements and thanked the Board of Trustees for their contributions to the university and in putting in plans that support faculty, administration and students. His Highness also approved several resolutions that support the university’s progress.
The board endorsed the university’s next year’s operational budget and a research expenditure budget of almost AED 100 million. It also approved a new spending policy for scholarship- and research-related endowments, and the promotion and renewal of faculty contracts.
Members of the board expressed their appreciation and gratitude to the family of Sheikha Nama Majid Al Qassimi for its highly valued contribution to the AUS Endowment Fund, which will lead to the establishment of the Sheikha Nama Majid Al Qassimi Endowed Chair in Education Across Disciplines at AUS.
