SBA finance student honored by KPMG
A student from the School of Business Administration (SBA) at American University of Sharjah (AUS) was recognized by one of the world’s leading professional services firms, KPMG, for her academic and extra-curricular best all-round performance, on May 17, 2016, on campus.
Mai Zarwi, a senior majoring in finance, was presented a certificate by KPMG Lower Gulf acknowledging her exceptional performance. In addition, she was given an extended internship, starting in September 2016, that will follow her completion of the traditional six week summer internship, at the firm’s Dubai office.
Dr. Jörg Bley, Interim Dean of SBA, spoke to the attendees and said, “For this educational endeavor to be successful, business schools have to be mindful of the ever-changing economic realities, industry trends and business needs. In short, communication and interaction between academia and the corporate world is one of the true value adding elements in our educational proposition to students.”
“Education and the opportunities to enlighten and broaden a student’s scope of learning are key to ensuring sustainable development, which is vital for achieving Dubai’s 2021 vision as defined by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai,” stated Muhammad Tariq, Head of Audit and partner in charge of corporate citizenship at KPMG Lower Gulf.
The certificate was awarded by Fawzi Aburass, Partner at KPMG Lower Gulf, who said, “We at KPMG look forward to see many more talented young men and women shining through with their accomplishments and willingness to succeed and make a difference.”
