Second AUS-EADIC collaboration showcases excellence in executive engineering education
American University of Sharjah (AUS) recently welcomed a cohort of professionals for an intensive five-day executive education training course on construction project planning and scheduling, delivered in collaboration with EADIC - Engineering, Training and Development Solutions. This marks the second successful collaboration between AUS and EADIC, reinforcing the university’s role as a premier destination for specialized professional training.
The program, led by Dr. Sameh El-Sayegh, Professor and Head of the AUS Department of Civil Engineering, covered essential techniques for effective project delivery, including project management fundamentals, cost estimating approaches, work breakdown structures, network modeling and critical path method. The training also delved into advanced topics such as earned value analysis, project performance monitoring and the use of Primavera Project Management (P6) software, a project management software for planning, scheduling and controlling large-scale construction projects.
“This course provides participants with cutting-edge knowledge and practical skills to ensure successful project outcomes,” said Dr. El-Sayegh. “The diversity and experience of this cohort brought new perspectives, enhancing the learning experience for everyone involved. We are proud to contribute to the professional growth of global participants, equipping them with tools to excel in the ever-evolving field of construction management.”
Participants hailed from Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Peru, the Dominican Republic and Cameroon. Beyond the classroom, participants engaged with industry leaders through visits to Sharjah Research Technology and Innovation Park (SRTIP) and Dupod. They also attended a workshop titled Digitalizing the Construction Projects Delivery, delivered by Dr. Marwan AbuEbeid of Turner Construction – International LLC.
"The training course at AUS was a truly transformative experience, combining advanced academic learning with practical exposure to cutting-edge innovations in the architecture, engineering and construction industry. It bridged the gap between theory and practice while celebrating Emirati culture, offering an inspiring and impeccably organized journey that enriched both knowledge and perspective," said Ambe Sangbong, a participant from Cameroon.
“This collaboration with EADIC reflects our strategic vision of building enduring international partnerships and delivering impactful education that transcends borders. At AUS, we are committed to shaping leaders in engineering, both locally and internationally, who can address complex global challenges through innovation and collaboration. We are especially proud to welcome international visitors from South America to Sharjah, UAE, fostering a truly global exchange of knowledge and culture,” said Dr. Fadi Aloul, Dean of the AUS College of Engineering.
"We are honored to collaborate with AUS on this training program, which provided our students with an outstanding educational experience. The program offered in-depth training and expert guidance, enabling participants to strengthen their project planning and management skills while gaining valuable insights into innovative practices. This collaboration reflects a shared commitment to academic excellence and professional development, making the program a transformative journey that inspired personal and career growth," Said Ricardo Carraminana, Director General at EADIC.
AUS is recognized as a leader in engineering education in the region, ranking first in the UAE and among the top 200 universities globally for civil and structural engineering (QS World University Rankings 2024).
