SLP students participate in Alleem Leadership Congress
Twenty-two students from the Student Leadership Program at American University of Sharjah (AUS) participated in the Fourth Alleem Leadership Congress on January 22 at Radisson BLU Hotel in Sharjah. The conference was organized by Alleem Knowledge Center in Sharjah.
Hamriyah Free Zone Authority Director General Dr. Rashid Alleem shared his best leadership philosophies with the participants with a deep analysis of the current economic, environmental and social status in the world. The conference aimed to create an interactive platform for corporate and government decision-makers, senior managers, project developers and civic leaders and students. The event also gathered top Sharjah government, semi-government and private officials and key business decision makers who listened to experts discuss the latest trends and best practices in leadership and management.
Leen Barqawi, a design management student, said, "The congress was an interesting one where I was able to see how different people dealt with and defined leadership differently. Some put it as laying out your goals and being focused on them, while others put it as the positive energy within each one of us that motivates us to be more productive. This has made me more aware of some of the leadership characteristics within me and has encouraged me to define my wants and aims in life more accurately."
Chemical engineering student Reem Al-Naaimi said, "Participating in the Fourth Alleem Leadership Congress was a great experience. I learned from the conference that leaders read the word impossible, as 'I am possible.' We need to build a clear picture of our dreams, and understand that if our dream does not scare us, then it is not big enough."
"The Student Leadership Program involves students in numerous local events that aim to develop their leadership skills and help them better understand and evaluate what the community is doing in terms of social and business structure. Through their participation, students get a chance to network and meet people from various disciplines, share knowledge, discuss best practices and unleash their potential, " said Dr. Moza Al Shehhi, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs.
This event was organized by the Office of Student Affairs' Student Leadership Program.
