Students attend Korean Music Festival
Fifteen students from the AUS Student Multicultural Learning Program and Korean Cultural Club attended the Korean Music Festival held September 6, 2018 at Madinat Jumeriah. Organized by the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea and the Korean Tourism Organization, the festival promotes Korean culture, highlighting Korean history, music and folklore. The festival featured a collection of performances ranging from a mix of modern and traditional music to folk singing coupled with a traditional dance.
The performance kicked-off with live classical music followed by an iconic folk singer and traditional dances.
"The Korean Music Festival is one of many culturally rich events that we want our students to experience. Cultural events enlighten our students about the different cultures around them and satisfy their curiosity through first-hand learning experiences," said Dr. Moza Al Shehhi, Dean of Students. "We have more cultural exchange activities lined-up that our students will truly enjoy and learn from.”
“The music was so rejuvenating and I learned about various types of music and really enjoyed the event. I am looking forward to more such events,” said Donthi Sankalpa, a senior computer engineering student and President of AUS Korean Cultural Club.
