Two AUS students to compete in Indonesia debating championship
Two American University of Sharjah (AUS) students will represent the university at the Asian British Parliament (BP) Debating Championship organized by Binus University in Jakarta, Indonesia. Students Badar Duja and Upasana Bhatia from the AUS Debate Club have been chosen to compete in the event after a stringent selection process.
The Asian BP Debating Championship will follow the British Parliament format. More than 80 teams from various prominent universities across Asia will participate in the annual event scheduled from October 22-29, 2012.
"AUS Debate Club is one of our most active interest-oriented clubs on campus," said Dr. Moza Al Shehhi, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs. "Last year, two Debate Club members participated in the same event held in Dhaka, Bangladesh. As the quality of extracurricular activities at AUS progresses, we see an enhanced program scope promoting the university and engaging our students at the international level."
The students' participation in the international event was arranged by OSA's Student Development and Organizations Department.
