AUSAA holds annual alumni iftar
The American University of Sharjah Alumni Association (AUSAA) held its annual iftar on July 15, 2014 at the AUS Main Building. The AUSAA iftar played host to over 800 alumni who have graduated over the years and live across the country.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Nada Mourtada-Sabbah, Vice Chancellor for Development and Alumni Affairs, said, "Although the Holy Month is a particularly busy time for family and friends, the sheer number of returning graduates for this Sharjah iftar demonstrates the very special relationship AUS holds in the alumni's identity."
"The university family trains students in how to evaluate the world around them so that they may make the necessary improvements for society when it comes their turn to assume the mantle of leadership. Superbly trained young professionals will make the critical difference in devising new solutions for your companies and for your countries to meet any challenges that you may face," she added.
Samer El Jamal, AUSAA President, congratulated his team for the hard work they put towards organizing the event and expressed his gratitude on seeing so many alumni present at the Iftar.
The objective of AUSAA is to act as the official representative of the AUS alumni community. It also aspires to build a strong bond amongst the alumni, and to strengthen the relationship between AUS, alumni and the community across multiple levels.
