AUS signs agreement with Total Marketing Middle East
American University of Sharjah (AUS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Total Marketing Middle East (TMME), a wholly owned subsidiary of Total S.A, and the fourth largest global Oil and Gas Company, on 8th February, 2016.
The MoU was signed at the main building by Dr. Björn Kjerfve, Chancellor of AUS and Total Marketing Middle East's Managing Director, David Kalife and, in the presence of a number of senior officials from both sides. The signing of the MOU was preceded by a brief meeting, to exchange views on possible collaboration in implementation of the MoU.
The MoU will allow both organizations to pursue cooperation in industrial knowledge transfer, research and development to provide a well-rounded curriculum that will enhance the employability of students upon graduation. This will be made possible through seminars and lectures, internships, personalized programs, job opportunities, and international events for both students and faculty.
"As part of its vision, AUS has always partnered with leading international organizations in the fields of industry and commerce," said Dr. Kjerfve. "This partnership will allow both institutions to benefit mutually from each other's areas of expertise. We are very pleased with this collaboration and sincerely hope that it will prove to be an enriching and fruitful experience for both AUS and Total," he concluded.
Speaking on the occasion, David Kalife, stated, "Within the Total group, education is a priority and a longstanding commitment. Promoting human and economic development, access to knowledge and the diversity of talents are at the core of the Total group's actions. Through this partnership we hope to contribute to the university on subjects related to our businesses, by means of locally available resources and our international learning programmes." This collaboration effort aims at capacity building of the youth by improving their scientific capabilities, skills and potential," he added.
The MoU signing ceremony was also attended by a number of senior AUS and TMME officials.
