AUS hosts a musical performance led Amer Ammouri

American University of Sharjah (AUS) welcomed the performance of Amer Ammouri, a Syrian oud player, on Tuesday, February 9. Organized by the AUS Cultural Events Committee and the Syrian Cultural Club, the event began with a performance by Amer Ammouri and six musicians who played various instruments including the orgue, oud, kanoon, daf and drum.

Born in Aleppo, Syria, Ammouri began playing the oud at an early age, and went on to tour with a number of famous Arab singers, including Sabah Fakhri and Shadi Jamil. He is the principal oud player in the Salatin El Tarab ensemble, which performs the muwashahat and qudud halabiyya styles of Syrian music.

Ahmad Azraq, a popular Syrian musician who performed at AUS last year, joined the event and grabbed the attention of the attendees with his outstanding performance, strong vocals and impeccable execution of harmony.

The concert was attended by different age groups ranging from students to parents and families.
