AUS alumna named DG of EWS-WWF
In an announcement made May 1, Emirates Wildlife Society in association with WWF (EWS-WWF), has appointed American University of Sharjah (AUS) alumna Laila Mostafa Abdullatif as the Director-General of the organization.
According to WAM news agency, Abdullatif, an environmental sciences graduate from the AUS College of Arts and Sciences, will "lead the organization locally and represent WWF in the UAE and regionally."
Speaking on her new position as Director-General, Abdullatif said "I'm incredibly honored to be assigned this critical role. As an organization, our focus has been, and will continue to be, delivering high impact, science-based, robust conservation solutions which contribute to conserving the environment for the well-being of society and future generations. However, to do this we continue to recognize that strategic partnerships with the UAE government and a range of partners and civil society are fundamental to our success. Moving forward, we will continue to nurture these partnerships, create new collaborations and engage with the public through a diverse range of opportunities as we highlight the vital connection between nature and humanity."
Abdullatif has been associated with EWS-WWF for the past eight years.
