AUS student volunteers take part in Water Distribution Campaign
Student volunteers from Community Services at American University of Sharjah (AUS) took part in a Water Distribution Campaign, held in collaboration with Emirates Red Crescent Organization, September 10. The aim of the event was to spread awareness about the importance of drinking water in summer and to show compassion to workers performing their duties under the hot scorching sun.
Nine student volunteers went around University City area and distributed more than 500 bottles of water to groups of worker that included gardeners, cleaners and drivers.
Volunteer Taha Ameen, a student from the College of Engineering, said: “We owe a lot to the workers for their contributions and it's the very least we can do. It's a small act with a huge impact!”
The students’ gesture of handing out water to as many workers as possible was a small gesture of appreciation for all the work done on a daily basis by the workers.
“The Water Distribution Campaign is a platform for our students to express their compassion towards the sacrifices and hard work of people who endure the hot summer months to perform their duties. This campaign is a simple yet meaningful way for our students to convey their appreciation and acknowledge the good deeds of the workers in our community,” said Dr. Moza Al Shehhi, Dean of Students.
