AUS delivers executive education to top Nigerian executives

Fifteen leaders from Nigerian government organizations have collaborated with American University of Sharjah (AUS) to develop new, creative approaches to service delivery.

The executive education program, which took place the week beginning October 14, was delivered by AUS School of Business Administration (SBA) faculty member, Dr. Abdelkader Daghfous, Professor of Management Information Systems, and consultant Dina Faidi, both experts in the field of innovation and corporate creativity. The program focused on generating solutions that can be seamlessly translated into the participants’ workplaces on their return to Nigeria. Participants were tasked with creating personal innovation leadership plans that will instill and sustain a culture of innovation within their organizations and empower and motivate their colleagues to practice optimal innovation practices. Such changes are expected to have positive results on the organizations’ productivity and efficiency.

Dr. Ilias Visvikis, Director of the Center for Executive and Professional Education at AUS, said of the program:

“Innovation is one of the keys to value creation and sustained growth in organizations, both public and private. It is important for organizational leaders to be able to both generate and implement creative ideas. This, of course, takes courage. This program gives leaders the confidence and skills to be able to do this in an era when constant external change requires us to be constantly changing the way we do things in an innovative way.”

Professor Olukunle Iyanda, President of the Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered), said:

“The course participants have been inspired and enabled with the skills required to work on transforming their organizations. The program was most helpful to all of us in accomplishing our objectives. This is the third leadership program we have run with American University of Sharjah and we are looking forward to a continuous, mutually beneficial partnership.”
