US citizen donations to American University of Sharjah tax deductible through CAF America

With American University of Sharjah (AUS) recognized as a designated grant recipient through CAF America, US citizens are able to support the university’s mission through tax-deductible donations.

CAF America is a global grant making association assisting donors from the United States who want to contribute to a foreign charitable organization. Under US law, an American citizen cannot receive a tax deduction for gifts given directly to an overseas charity. However, because CAF America is a recognized 501 (c) (3) organization—a type of organization that is exempt from US federal income tax—donations made to the organization on behalf of an overseas charity are tax deductible for US citizens.

AUS was first designated as a CAF America approved organization in 2017. Its current designation, which began in May of this year, will continue to May 2024.

With AUS listed as a CAFAmerica approved organization, friends, alumni and corporate supporters of American University of Sharjah (AUS) who are US citizens can make tax-advantaged gifts to the university. Such gifts are valuable in helping the university achieve its strategic vision to be globally recognized for outstanding and innovative teaching, learning, research and creative work that have a positive and distinctive impact on the region and beyond.
