American donors can now make tax-deductible donations to AUS via CAF America
Friends, alumni and supporters of American University of Sharjah (AUS) who are American nationals can now make tax-effective gifts to the university via CAF America, a global organization with US 501 (c) (3) status that assists foundations, corporations and individuals streamline the grant-making process.
AUS is now listed on CAF America's Charity Database as a designated grant recipient and is eligible to receive tax deductible donations made by the university's American supporters. As an approved 501 (c) (3) organization, contributions made by donors to CAF America can be used to reduce the donor's taxable income. CAF America is a US public charity which can, according to its website, "accept funds from American donors who can then recommend CAF America use those funds to support foreign charitable organizations."
As AUS moves towards its goal of becoming the premier research university in the region, this partnership with CAF America will provide an impetus to efforts aimed at garnering funds and support. It will also have a positive impact on the support offered by the university's alumni, which is growing by approximately 1,000 graduates per year.
Dr. Björn Kjerfve, Chancellor of AUS, believes this new development has come at the right time for the university. He said:
"This association with CAF America is very timely as AUS moves on to its next phase of development. As an American university, this was a natural step for us. Over two decades, AUS has built a network of alumni and supporters spread throughout the world, many of whom are American nationals. This new arrangement will encourage and enhance the support offered by our American friends."
