AUS hosts global conference on advancements in transportation infrastructure management
Centering on the critical domain of transportation systems infrastructure, the Fourth International Conference on Infrastructure Management, Assessment and Rehabilitation Techniques (ICIMART’24) hosted by American University of Sharjah (AUS) brought together over 50 scientists and engineers from across the globe to exchange research and development in the field.
Distinguished speakers delivered keynote lectures during the two-day conference, igniting cutting-edge discussions. Technical sessions, guided by academic researchers and industry experts, explored a wide range of topics at the forefront of infrastructure management, covering critical areas such as infrastructure resilience, advancements in infrastructure materials and methods, non-destructive evaluation techniques, innovative approaches to design and materials for infrastructure and the intricate nuances of transportation aspects.
"As the Fourth International Conference on Infrastructure Management, Assessment and Rehabilitation Techniques returns to AUS, it reaffirms our commitment to fostering advancements in infrastructure management. The continuity of this conference, having been held at AUS before in 2014, 2016 and 2019, highlights our dedication to driving innovation and excellence in this crucial field," said Dr. Akmal Abdelfatah, Professor of Civil Engineering at AUS and Conference Co-Chair.
The conference also featured the specialized workshop "Sustainable Pavements for Infrastructure Management," offering participants practical insights into sustainable infrastructure solutions.
Dr. Sherif Yehia, Professor of Civil Engineering at AUS and Conference Co-Chair, emphasized the significance of collaboration in addressing infrastructure challenges.
"The collaboration between academia, industry and government entities is essential for driving impactful change in infrastructure management. ICIMART’24 has served as a catalyst for fostering these collaborations and driving innovative solutions," he said.
