CEN draws roadmap to meet UAE innovation agenda
The College of Engineering (CEN) at American University of Sharjah (AUS) recently carried out a benchmarking exercise against leading national and international universities followed by a workshop to design the action plans for the college’s six departments in accordance with CEN’s strategic agenda for 2022.
The meeting follows a recent planning retreat organized by the college to kick off the Spring 2022 semester and set its agenda for the upcoming academic year with a focus on enhancing the university student experience and increasing collaborations and community engagement.
The benchmarking exercise comes as part of the college’s objectives to become one of the top 200 engineering colleges in the world within the next five years. Each of the six departments produced an action plan focused on attracting, retaining and supporting students, as well as on empowering faculty members by providing them with the resources and environment to excel in their field of expertise and building team spirit.“
Our meeting allowed us to put in place six strategic plans that focus on students, community engagement and innovation as we enhance research, establish partnerships and build an entrepreneurial spirit in areas of global significance that are also in line with UAE Centennial 2071,” said Dr. Fadi Aloul, Dean of College of Engineering at AUS.
With a strong track record of excellence, CEN offers a wide choice of programs, including seven undergraduate programs in chemical engineering, civil engineering, computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, industrial engineering and mechanical engineering. It also offers nine master’s programs and a PhD program in engineering systems management.
