Della Mae Band performs at AUS
The Della Mae Band performed to a packed crowd at the American University of Sharjah (AUS) Student Center, today, October 30, 2014. The band started off as one of the first single all-women bluegrass bands with its main goal to showcase strong women in bluegrass.
The event, which was organized by Office of Student Affairs' Student Multicultural Learning Program, is a collaboration with the Office of Public Affairs, the US Embassy and Consulate General, Dubai.
Dr. Moza, Al Shehhi, Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, said, "As part of our efforts to promote community engagement and cross-cultural learning, our Student Multicultural Learning Program partners with various governmental and private organizations to offer our students with diverse activities and events that expand their understanding about different cultures. Musical events such as this one offer both entertaining and educational experiences for our students at the same time."
The band, formed in 2009, features a wide variety of American musical genres and their musical style seamlessly blends years of experience with traditional mountain music and modern singer-songwriter sensibilities. Della Mae has toured throughout the US, playing festivals, music clubs, house concerts, as well as conducting workshops.
