Sultan praises AUS board for academic progress and development at a meeting with AGB officials
His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan Bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, UAE Supreme Council Member, Ruler of Sharjah, and President of American University of Sharjah (AUS) received Richard Legon, President of the Association of Governing Boards and Colleges (AGB); and Susan Johnston, Vice Executive President of AGB, at Al Badi' Palace today, January 15.
The meeting was also attended by His Excellency Sheikh Sultan Bin Mohammed Bin Sultan Al Qassimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah; Dr. Peter Heath, AUS Chancellor; and Salem Al Qaseer, Vice Chancellor for Public Affairs.
His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah discussed the technical support AGB can provide in organizing a retreat as part of the board's future plans. On the occasion, His Highness also praised and expressed his warm regards to the members of the board for their continuous efforts towards the development of the university.
Sheikh Sultan also expressed satisfaction over the academic progress of the university and its distinguished programs. He also expressed his vision for the university to further develop into various other spheres of academia, both in terms of programs and the number of graduates.
Richard Legon expressed satisfaction at the meeting with His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah and praised the cultural renaissance that has taken place in the emirate in all major fields, especially in the academic and scientific areas.
The AGB is the only American national association that serves the interests and needs of academic governing boards, boards of institutionally-related foundations, and campus CEOs and other senior-level campus administrators on issues related to higher education governance and leadership. It serves more than 36,000 individual board members and higher education leaders and has more than 1,200 member institutions.
