AUS SBA faculty member passes away
Dr. Robert Bateman II, Associate Professor of Management at the AUS School of Business and Administration passed away, yesterday, Sunday, October 11, 2015.
Dr. Bateman joined AUS at the beginning of the Fall 2005 semester and over the years he made significant contributions to the university through his work within the institution and his efforts to promote AUS locally and internationally.
"His dedication to students was evident in the time and energy he invested in their development, and he will be remembered fondly by those he taught," said Kevin Mitchell, AUS Interim Provost, in an email to the university community.
Prior to joining AUS, he worked as an international business consultant and as an officer in the US Foreign Service. He lived and worked in Europe, Central and South America, Asia and the US. His teaching experience spanned more than 50 nations.
Dr. Bateman served as a mayor and as a member of the city council in two different communities in the United States. His research interests include cross-cultural knowledge transfer and ethics in both business and government.
He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Candace (Candi) Bateman, and their children and grandchildren. The university community held a moment of silence to honor Dr. Bateman at 5:00 p.m. yesterday in the Main Building Rotunda.
