Fayha Choir performs at AUS
American University of Sharjah (AUS) held a delightful musical evening yesterday March 1, 2016, on campus with the popular Fayha Choir. Organized by the Cultural Events Committee and the Lebanese Cultural Club at AUS, the choir entertained the audience with their diverse, multicultural repertoire.
The Fayha Choir, which was established in 2003, was conducted by Maestro Barkev Talakian. It comprises nearly 100 members from Tripoli who represent different religious, social, political and economic backgrounds. The choir's repertoire consists of Latin, Armenian, French and English, as well as Arabic music from different heritages, including Lebanese, Syrian, Egyptian, Palestinian, Iraqi, Bedouin and Andalusian. Twenty seven members of the choir performed at AUS last night.
Through their performances, the choir aims to spread Arabic music around the world and demonstrate its richness and diversity.
The concert was attended by Dr. Björn Kjerfve, AUS Chancellor, and members of the AUS community.
