Dean's message

Our faculty and staff provide access to unique learning opportunities and widely recognized educational credentials in a supportive and student-focused environment.

Narjess Boubakri

It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the School of Business Administration (SBA) at American University of Sharjah.

Since its inception in 1997, SBA has been growing its portfolio of programs, regularly expanding its range of degrees, and introducing the most updated state-of-the-art curriculum. We do this with the objective of providing a rigorous and forward-looking education to our students.

Our faculty and staff provide access to unique learning opportunities and widely recognized educational credentials in a supportive and student-focused environment. Your commitment to education inspires us, faculty and staff alike, to work together to give you the competencies you need to succeed as skilled professionals in a challenging technology-driven environment.

The excellence of our programs has been recognized internationally. QS World University Subject Rankings has named AUS as number one in the UAE and among the top 200 universities globally for business and management studies, and for accounting and finance (2023). Additionally, our MBA program is among the top 10 in the Middle East and Africa region and among the top 250 in the world in the QS Global MBA Rankings (2022).

Our recognized Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (BSBA) program offers you the opportunity to choose among six majors (accounting, economics, finance, marketing, management and management information systems) and a variety of minors. We also offer one of the only two Bachelor of Arts in Economics (BAE) programs in the country. Our programs focus on experiential learning, which is facilitated by the technologically advanced Interactive Trading Floor (ITF). The ITF boasts 22 terminals, with the same live feeds, tools and software used in a typical Wall Street investment firm. Our graduate programs include a Master in Business Administration, a Master of Science in Accounting and a PhD in Business Administration. Our undergraduate and graduate programs in accounting successfully prepare students to undertake professional accounting certifications such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA), and Certified Internal Auditor (CIA).

The school’s programs are accredited by the Ministry of Education of the UAE and are endorsed internationally. In fact, the school is among the first in the region to have become accredited by AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business). The finance major is also the first CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) partner program in the region, preparing students for the CFA level 1 exam. Furthermore, the school is the only Bloomberg experiential partner in the region, and is the first business school to introduce an interactive trading floor as part of the curriculum.

At SBA, we strive to keep close ties with the business community and our alumni. Every semester, we invite corporate leaders and alumni to talk to our students, whether in classes or during networking events. Our Advising Services and the Internship and Placement Office help the students in their journey to career development. Our internship and placement programs provide students with an opportunity to work in major corporations, either locally or abroad. Some students choose to become successful entrepreneurs.

SBA faculty are active researchers and are internationally renowned. They have diverse areas of expertise in research and teaching.  The school’s research is further endorsed by three research chairs and a professorship: the Bank of Sharjah Chair in Banking and Finance, the Said T. Khoury Chair in Leadership Studies, the Sheikh Saoud Bin Khalid Bin Khalid Al Qassimi Chair in Family Business, and the Chalhoub Group Professorship in Luxury Brand Management.

A student experience in SBA is one of self-discovery and personal development, in an enriching and multicultural environment. If you are a current student, we are excited that you have chosen to study at SBA. We assure you of our commitment to your success and look forward to meeting you!

If you are a prospective student, we invite you to navigate our website and explore our wide range of program offerings. Know that this could be a potential stepping stone towards a more challenging and rewarding education.

We wish you a very enjoyable and productive journey at SBA!
