We believe that universities play a special role and hold a unique responsibility in confronting the challenges of climate change and sustainability. Students graduating from AUS should have a deep understanding of the complexity of sustainability challenges, and be ready to address them no matter where their lives may lead. AUS offers a variety of courses and degrees focused on sustainability and solutions that will help to solve major sustainability challenges.
We continuously strive to translate sustainable best-practices and innovations into action. Whether it is finding alternative sources for bottled drinking water, encouraging recycling on campus or creating awareness about energy consumption, we always focus on solutions with scalable impact.
Student EcoReps play a key part in AUS achieving a sustainable campus. They act as an important communication channel between the student body and the AUS sustainability team. Furthermore, they help to actively promote sustainability initiatives to their peers and increase awareness about sustainability issues around campus. Meet our current and past EcoReps, and learn how to get involved.
We are building a network of Staff EcoAmbassadors to grow a culture of sustainability on campus. Stop by our office M240 to learn how to get involved.
Through ongoing events on campus, we seek to inspire staff, students and faculty to learn about sustainability, and shape the future for a more sustainable community. Follow us on Instagram to stay up-to-date on sustainability events at AUS.
The challenges of sustainability are both local and global. We envision our campus to be an incubator for new ideas and solutions that address environmental and social issues at AUS and beyond. We support student research projects and initiatives at a graduate and undergraduate level that contribute to AUS’ commitment to sustainability.
