Our EcoReps are enthusiastic students with a desire to promote sustainable change on campus. EcoReps educate their student peers on issues such as waste reduction, energy conservation, diversity and tolerance. Through guest speakers, events and outings, EcoReps deepen their own understanding of their sustainable campus and become better advocates for environmental action.
Khadijah Ali, Mechanical Engineering
My passion for sustainability stems from the age-old motto of “reduce-reuse-recycle”; I have since grown to truly understand the vital need for eco-friendly and climate-conscious practices, both at an individual and a societal level. Amidst this process, I found AUS Sustainability, a hub of environmentally friendly people, practices and values. A year later, I am a proud EcoRep at the said office, eager to take on and effectively fulfill my responsibilities, and I look forward to contributing positively to our shared goals. As an EcoRep, I truly hope to align the community at AUS with the vision of the office, incorporating sustainability and environmental consciousness into our daily lives! |

Jewel Johnson, BSBA Management I am deeply thrilled and honored to be serving as an EcoRep, representing the sustainability office of our university. As a student majoring in management with an ambition to start a firm someday, it is really important for me to implement sustainable approaches in my day-to-day life. Being an EcoRep will allow me to enhance campus-wide education about various eco-friendly practices to increase awareness within the students. I am also excited to foster interdisciplinary collaborations to innovate and implement sustainable solutions to prioritize environmental responsibility. Together, let’s work towards creating an ever-growing greener and sustainable campus! |

Sameera Khan, Environmental Sciences As an environmental sciences student, my interest in sustainability should come as no surprise. At AUS, I have had the opportunity and privilege to learn from not only the faculty, but the staff, my friends and other students. As an EcoRep, I hope to pass on the knowledge I learn to others, and be a medium for students, staff and faculty who would like to make a difference in this world. It is my honor to hold a position of such prestige. I hope to use this position as a chance to help save our planet and make a positive change in the lives of many. |

Aamuktha Samrajyam, Chemical Engineering
The EcoRep position will enable me to inculcate the concept of environmental stewardship in our AUS community. Actuating a green transition within our daily bustle is a challenge that I want to overcome together. To stimulate sustainable thinking, it is essential that we first experience an ecologically sound lifestyle—a lifestyle that demands knowledge and motivation. These are the two key ingredients that I would like to intensify in the recipe for shaping sustainable mindsets on our campus. We all have an EcoRep within us, an EcoRep for our planet. My primary priorities will include making our environment one of your primary priorities, too! |

Rawand Abdullah, Environmental Sciences My journey toward becoming an EcoRep is driven by my commitment to sustainability and the belief that meaningful change starts at the community level. As an environmental sciences student who is passionate about environmental preservation, I see the EcoRep role as an opportunity to not only advocate for sustainable practices but also to inspire others to adopt them in their everyday lives. For me, this role is about more than just raising awareness—it's about actively engaging our community in the global movement to protect our planet. By fostering collaboration, education and action, I hope to help make sustainability a core part of the AUS experience, guiding us toward a greener, healthier future. |

Nethanya Saji, Environmental Sciences “Small changes, significant impact” is a phrase that has grown up with me since the age of 12. As an environmental sciences student, I search for opportunities to be able to educate others to follow the same. AUS Sustainability has privileged me by giving me an opportunity to do the same by becoming an EcoRep. I plan on using the next one year to create awareness of the small changes everyone can create together to see significant impacts for sustainability. |

Syed Arfan Hussain, Computer Engineering My passion for environmental sustainability has grown as I’ve come to realize the urgency of addressing ecological issues in our rapidly changing world. As a computer engineering major, I believe that technology plays a crucial role in driving innovative solutions for sustainability. In my role as an EcoRep at AUS, I aim to integrate my technical skills with environmental initiatives to create practical, tech-driven approaches to sustainability. I’m committed to working collaboratively with students, faculty and staff to foster a greener campus and inspire everyone to take part in preserving our environment for future generations. |

Snikita Moka, Architecture As an architecture major, being a part of AUS Sustainability allowed me to bridge the gap between design and environmental impact. Architecture plays a critical role in shaping sustainable communities, and working at the sustainability office has given me hands-on experience in working on ideas that align with both ecological responsibility and innovative design. Through our work, I’ve also realized how powerful design can be in communicating ideas, especially through social media in order to inspire our community to adopt more sustainable habits, making our initiatives more impactful. By coming together as a community, we can each play a role in creating a more sustainable future, where small actions collectively lead to significant change. |
