AUS alumnus pledges AED 100,000 annually towards scholarship
Husni Al Bayari, a graduate of the American University of Sharjah (AUS) Class of 2004 and CEO of D&B Properties, has pledged to donate an annual sum of AED 100,000 towards a scholarship offered to deserving students pursuing their education at AUS. This was announced at a special ceremony held at the university on July 23.
Commenting on the generous contribution, Professor Kevin Mitchell, Chancellor of AUS, said:
“From its very inception, AUS has been committed to providing access to highly qualified students whose financial circumstances may impact their ability to pursue higher education. On behalf of the university, I would like to express our gratitude to alumnus Mr. Husni Al Bayari for his commitment to ensuring that future generations of deserving students will have the opportunity to pursue their education at AUS. We are proud of Mr. Al Bayari’s success and grateful that he has chosen to acknowledge the role that AUS has played in his life.”
Speaking on the occasion, Al Bayari said:
“During my time here at AUS many years ago, someone funded my education and gave me the opportunity to study here. This is why I feel it is only right for me to pay it forward and do the same for others. It is a great feeling to be able to give back to my alma mater, and for this, I would like to express my appreciation to the university for giving me this opportunity.”
Each year, AUS students receive over AED 80 million in merit- and need-based grants and scholarships.
