As a leading institution for innovation and technology, American University of Sharjah (AUS) has advanced in its global subject rankings in engineering and its graduates across the engineering majors are the top choice for employers in the UAE, according to the QS World Subject Rankings 2022 released recently.
QS World Subject Rankings 2022 represent the most diverse collection of institutions from around the world, with almost 4,000 individual university programs assessed. Rankings are based on research quality and accomplishments, academic reputation and graduate employment.
As number one in civil and structural engineering in the UAE, AUS has advanced to be among the top 150 universities globally. It has also become one of the top 300 world universities in electrical and mechanical engineering and one of the top three in the UAE. AUS also ranked among the top 350 universities globally in chemical engineering and one of the top three in the UAE.
“Early this year, we set our strategic plan for CEN aiming to make it one of the top 200 engineering colleges in the world within the next five years. Our recent advancement in global rankings according to the QS World Subject Rankings 2022 shows that we are on the right track. We are very proud of what we have achieved so far, and we look forward to continuing our work by putting our students at the heart of what we do. We will continue to strive to attract, retain and support talented students as they embark on their careers or pursue higher education at leading international universities. We will also continue to support our faculty and provide them with the resources and environment to excel in their field of expertise,” said Dr. Aloul.
The QS World Subject Rankings 2022 also showed that the CEN has scored the highest in employability reputation in the UAE at the college and program levels.
“CEN equips its students with some of the most sought-after 21st century skills to graduate future innovators, entrepreneurs, independent thinkers and global citizens who are ready to contribute to the advancement of national and global markets. The first-hand education our graduates receive in our state-of-the- art facilities and laboratories and the practical experience they gain from internships, competitions, conferences and research have led them to have the highest employability rate in the UAE market. We see them working in national and international organizations and getting accepted at some of the most prestigious universities around the world for their graduate studies. We will continue to maintain our employability reputation and seek to further strengthen our engagement with industries and communities,” said Dr. Aloul.
CEN’s programs offer the highest level of professional and technical preparation, global preparedness and leadership development. The college offers bachelor of science degrees in chemical engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, industrial engineering and mechanical engineering.
