AUS holds AABP Student Award Ceremony
American University of Sharjah (AUS) held the second Achievement Academy Bridge Program (AABP) Fall 2015 award ceremony yesterday, January 6, 2016 on campus, to recognize the achievements of the students enrolled in the program.
The ceremony aimed to highlight their success and awarded those who had made significant progress in their courses and showed an increase in their language proficiency to a level suitable for study in university-level courses taught in English. In addition, the AABP ceremony also recognized students who had showed improvement in math and physics abilities, as well as personal, academic and study skills.
Attending the ceremony were Ali Shuhaimy, Executive Director of Enrollment Management; Mohamed El-Shahed, Director of Student Recruitment; as well as the organizing committee from AABP along with Achievement Academy instructors Lina Hijjawi, Jessica March, Scott Rousseu, Tahani Qadri and Laurial Mehdi; and AUS students.
"As a university, our objective is to try our best to make sure we are meeting your expectations for you to have a successful experience at AUS," said Shuhaimy in his address to the students. "The AABP creates a solid foundation for you as students, which will support your education," he added.
Jessica March and Scott Rousseu also spoke on the occasion and expressed their pride in the achievements of the students.
The AABP aims to improve student readiness for enrollment into students' majors and for the rigors of an academic program of study in higher education.
