AUS holds musical performance by Abaji
American University of Sharjah (AUS) held a delightful musical evening by the multi-instrumentalist Abaji, yesterday November 22. Abaji's performance of Indian music, oriental music and the blues used different instruments such as the clarinet and percussions and oud as well as bouzouki and flutes. Having performed across five continents, Abaji's latest album Route&Roots combines voice and instruments with emotion and truth, resulting in music that is all about routes and roots.
Abaji was born in Lebanon to an Armenian-Greek father and an Armenian-Syrian mother. He started learning the guitar when he was 11, followed by other musical instruments. Later he worked on the transformation of instruments to synthesize his musical passions.
The concert was organized by the Cultural Events Committee and the Lebanese Cultural Club, on the occasion of the Lebanese National Day.
