AUS holds special program for DHR
As part of its efforts to provide professional development and training, the Achievement Academy Outreach Program at American University of Sharjah (AUS) recently concluded a Job-Seekers English Improvement Program held in cooperation with the Directorate of Human Resources (DHR) of the Government of Sharjah.
The program, which offered 540 instructional hours for seven weeks, accommodated 124 students and was conducted in eight locations around the emirate of Sharjah, including Al-Madam, Al-Maliha, Al-Dhaid, Al-Fujairah, Khorfakkan, Kalba, Dibba, and at the AUS campus in Sharjah.
A number of instructors from the Achievement Academy Outreach Program participated in teaching the various groups and designed practical learning materials to ensure that the lessons were informative and interactive, and could support job seekers with the skills they needed in real workplace situations such as customer service, sales presentations, telephone etiquette and conversations, and a range of other business activities.
The program was part of the many activities and events AUS arranges in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) it signed with the DHR of the Government of Sharjah in 2011. It is also part of the university's mission to engage with organizations within the emirate.
