AUS launches Master of Science in Economics and Policy (MSEP) program
American University of Sharjah (AUS) has launched a Master of Science in Economics and Policy (MSEP) program in response to local and regional needs, fostering essential competencies crucial for a thriving knowledge-based economy. Admission is now open, with the first batch of students expected to start in Fall 2024.
"Our program integrates comprehensive knowledge in economic theory, policy evaluation and data analysis, equipping graduates with analytical skills to discern global trends and craft data-driven solutions for local and global challenges. MSEP prepares graduates to excel in a range of roles, from economists and consultants to analysts and policy advisors, across diverse sectors. The MSEP degree also provides those wishing to pursue doctoral studies in economics or related fields with a solid academic foundation for the future,” said Dr. Samer Kherfi, Associate Professor in Economics and Head of the Department of Economics and MSEP Program Coordinator in the School of Business Administration.
MSEP graduates will develop an advanced understanding of economic theory and policy, enabling them to apply this in-depth knowledge to business, economic, and social questions. Graduates will have policy analysis and advanced quantitative skills complemented by strong training in independent research and reporting.
Throughout their time in the program, MSEP Students will have many opportunities to engage with research active faculty who regularly publish in reputable journals and receive competitive research funding. Faculty scholarly activity is diverse, covering many economic fields including development, labor, migration, security and conflict, real estate, international trade, forecasting, and behavioral, experimental and environmental economics.
