AUS mathematics student research conference facilitates engaging discussions
More than 55 undergraduate and graduate students from across the UAE presented their research in mathematics to peers and faculty members at the Student Research Conference on Mathematics and Related Areas held recently at American University of Sharjah (AUS).
Organized by the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the AUS College of Arts and Sciences, the event featured a keynote speech delivered by Professor Dr. Jörg Robert Osterrieder, an eminent figure in the fields of finance and artificial intelligence. He is also Associate Professor of Finance and Artificial Intelligence at the University of Twente in the Netherlands, Professor of Sustainable Finance at Bern Business School in Switzerland and Advisor on Artificial Intelligence to the ING Group's Global Data Analytics Team.
"This event serves as an invaluable platform for students to not only present their research but also to foster collaboration and exchange of ideas. The enthusiasm and dedication demonstrated by the participants reaffirm the importance of nurturing young talent in the field of mathematics and its diverse applications," said Dr. Issam Louhichi from the AUS Department of Mathematics and Statistics and the event organizer.
"It's great for students to have the opportunity to showcase their talents in research at a young age in AUS, especially in mathematics as a fundamental field that's required for future innovation and development," said Omar Al-Khazali, student double majoring in computer science and mathematics.
