AUS signs regional Sharakah agreement with Bahrain Bayan School
American University of Sharjah’s (AUS) Sharakah Program continues to expand regionally as Bahrain Bayan School becomes its newest member following the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) at an online ceremony organized by the AUS Office of Enrollment Management recently. This is the second regional partnership undertaken as part of the program, which is a strategic initiative promoting sustainable partnerships with select schools.
The Sharakah agreement highlights the university’s role in the recruitment of outstanding students from varied socio-cultural and economic backgrounds. According to the MoA, AUS will consider students nominated by the school for partial scholarships. AUS will also offer patronage of selected research, cultural, social and sports events organized by the school, in addition to organizing workshops for the school’s faculty and staff.
The virtual signing ceremony was attended by Dr. Susan Mumm, Chancellor of AUS, and Shaikha Noora Abdulrahman Al Khalifa, Academic Director of Bahrain Bayan School, in the presence of Dr. Juan Sanchez, AUS Provost; Ali Shuhaimy, Executive Director of Enrollment Management at AUS; Medhat Merabi, Bahrain Bayan School high school principal and senior officials from the two institutions.
“AUS is delighted about the expansion of the Sharakah Program and the newly established partnership with Bahrain Bayan School. Over the span of 25 years, AUS has become one of the finest higher education institutions in the region and we believe in the importance of building connections with students while still at school. This partnership is mutually beneficial for our two institutions but most beneficial for the school students, whom we would like to see joining us one day,” said Dr. Mumm.
Speaking about the importance of the partnership between the school and university, Shaikha Noora Al Khalifa said: “It is a great honor for Bahrain Bayan School to be part of the Sharakah Program at AUS. Today we embark on a special journey as we collaborate with one of the outstanding higher education institutions in the region, and we are looking forward to working with AUS on a variety of programs that support our students and faculty.”
A number of select schools from across the UAE currently participate in the Sharakah Program at AUS, with their students and staff benefiting from a variety of opportunities. For more information about the program, please visit www.aus.edu/sharakah.
