AUS students attend Bloomberg Training
Forty eight students from the School of Business Administration at American University of Sharjah (AUS) took part in a training session organized by Bloomberg L.P., held recently at the company’s offices in Dubai.
Held as part of ongoing training provided by Bloomberg L.P. for AUS students, the workshop included practical training on the Bloomberg Professional service, covering portfolio management techniques and other areas. It also included a discussion with the Bloomberg News team.
Dr. Björn Kjerfve, Chancellor of American University of Sharjah, stressed the importance of the partnerships AUS has with the various business sectors. He said:
“We are very pleased to see the strong co-operation between AUS and various business sectors. The Interactive Trading Floor (ITF) at AUS, established in partnership with HSBC Bank Middle East Limited and equipped with Bloomberg Terminals, is an example of such partnerships. The AUS ITF, a first of its kind in the MENA region, is a high-tech facility that translates theory into practice in a fast-paced, applied environment.
“I am pleased that AUS and Bloomberg are working together to provide a practical training course for our business students. As a well-established university, AUS provides its graduates with the skills necessary to work in local, regional and international industry, and is dedicated to designing and developing programs that will serve the public interest.”
With the Bloomberg Professional service, students and academic staff can analyze markets and companies, evaluate industries and economies, price financial instruments and evaluate portfolio performance and risk, giving them real-world experience of the financial world. It also features execution tools for every asset class, research and a global network to communicate securely and reliably.
