AUS students perform at vocal concert
Students from an AUS class in applied voiced lessons performed an evening of solo vocal repertoire in the classical Bel Canto tradition. The concert was held at the Performing Arts Rotunda on Tuesday, January 3, 2012, at 7:30 p.m.
The class is part of a music course (MUS 140) entitled Applied Voice Lessons, taught by Emily Perkins, a faculty member in the AUS Performing Arts Program. The students performed Italian arias and other classical songs.
The repertoire included Giuseppi Giordani's Caro Mio Ben, Giacomo Puccini's O Mio Babbino Caro and Antonio Caldara's Sebben, Crudele among many others. Two duets were also performed; Tayma Bittard and Rashed Al Nuaimi sang Andrew Lloyd Webber's All I Ask Of You from The Phantom of the Opera and Vincent Palpar and Mohammad Ghonaim sang Enrico Morricone's Nella Fantasia. Accompanying on piano was Tatiana Tarakanova.
The concert was organized by the College of Arts and Sciences' Performing Arts Program.
