Graduate Student Association Board Members honored at AUS Appreciation Ceremony
American University of Sharjah (AUS) recently held an Appreciation Ceremony to honor the board members of its Graduate Student Association (GSA) for the Academic Year 2023–2024, recognizing their hard work and achievements throughout the year.
The student-run GSA represents the interests and concerns of graduate students. Through a variety of activities, including networking events, sports, research discussion groups and more, the GSA enriches the lives of graduate students and advances their interests academically and socially. All graduate students are automatically members of the GSA for each semester they are enrolled.
"The dedication and commitment demonstrated by the Graduate Student Association Board this past year have been truly commendable. Their initiatives have significantly contributed to the academic and social enrichment of our graduate student community. I am confident that the incoming board will continue this legacy of excellence and innovation," said Dr. Mohamad El-Tarhuni, Interim Provost and Chief Academic Officer at AUS.
The GSA Board members for the Academic Year 2023–2024 include Faisal Mustafa as President, with Vice Presidents Arjun Theajonmaya in Fall 2023 and Lara Omar Dhin in Spring 2024. The team also consists of Reza Ali Davoodi Far as Treasurer, Joel Nabil Georgeous as Executive Assistant and Sara Nezar Al Armouti as Public Relations Coordinator. The Activities Coordinators are Arhum Hassan and Ahmed Sherif Anwar Sayed. Media Coordinators are Hiyam Sultan AlZarooni, Antuanet Saldana and Yusur Khalid Yaseen Al-Mnaseer. College representatives are Muhammad Asim from the College of Engineering; Mahra Al Marri and Revathi Ranjith from the School of Business Administration; Sania Shanavaz from the College of Architecture, Art and Design; and Dania Dallah from the College of Arts and Sciences.
"As the outgoing President of the Graduate Student Association, it has been an incredible journey leading this dynamic organization. Over the past academic year, our team has worked tirelessly to create a supportive and enriching environment for our graduate students. The GSA plays a vital role in fostering community, advocating for student needs, and enhancing the overall graduate experience. It has been a privilege to witness the positive impact of our efforts, from professional development workshops to social gatherings that strengthen our sense of belonging,” said Mustafa.
