Leadership Transition

American University of Sharjah (AUS) wishes to recognize Dr. Björn Kjerfve for his contributions during his period of service as Chancellor, following his resignation from the university.

Dr. Kjerfve joined AUS at the beginning of the Fall 2014 academic year and has led efforts to develop doctoral programs and expand the research agenda to meet the needs of the region. During Dr. Kjerfve’s tenure, the university completed a major expansion of the AUS Student Center and began construction on the new state-of-the-art Engineering and Sciences Building.

Professor Kevin Mitchell, Vice Provost for Undergraduate Affairs and Instruction and a faculty member in the College of Architecture, Art and Design, has been appointed Acting Chancellor by the Board of Trustees.
