Office of Student Affairs hosts New Student Orientation
The Office of Student Affairs (OSA) at American University of Sharjah (AUS) hosted a week-long orientation to welcome new students starting in Spring Semester 2016. The activities, which started on Friday, January 22, were designed to help new students transition into the AUS community, learn about the university's extracurricular offerings and adapt to university life.
Among the orientation activities were information sessions, fun and intellectual games, educational and entertaining trips, and a dinner reception. The week's events began with OSA staff welcoming new students and their parents. A group of returning active students formed the orientation team that worked alongside the OSA staff during the orientation period. Around 100 new students joined the city tours of Sharjah and the Dubai. More than 100 students attended the freshman dinner reception, which was also attended by Dr. Moza Al Shehhi, Dean of Students, and senior OSA officials.
Addressing the students, Dr. Al Shehhi said, "I know that you are all tired and busy with the many orientation activities organized for you, but remember that all of these are vital for you to transition with ease to university life at AUS. I encourage you to learn from all information sessions prepared for you. We welcome you tonight and introduce you to the various extracurricular opportunities offered by AUS through the Office of Student Affairs. We are here to complement your academic learning for a complete university experience."
