AUS recognized in industry and international outlook on THE Rankings 2025
- Third in the UAE in industry collaboration and research commercialization indicator
- High performance in international outlook, fostering global learning environment
American University of Sharjah (AUS) has been ranked third in the UAE on the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2025's industry indicator. The metric evaluates institutions' ability to generate research income from industry and the number of patents filed based on their research. This recognition highlights AUS’ success in contributing to national economic development.
The THE World University Rankings evaluate institutions based on five pillars: teaching, research environment, research quality, industry and international outlook. A total of 2,092 universities were assessed for the 2025 edition. AUS was ranked in the 601-800 band on the THE World University Rankings 2025.
AUS' contributions in research and partnerships with industry demonstrate its commitment to providing a world-class education that is both academically rigorous and practically relevant.
AUS faculty have been actively engaged in research across a wide range of disciplines, supported by the university's three state-of-the-art specialized research centers in the areas of sustainability, entrepreneurship and material science. Three additional research centers have also been approved in the areas of biosciences and bioengineering, artificial intelligence, and Arab and Islamic studies to further support the AUS research agenda.
The university has also fostered strong partnerships with industry leaders, providing students with valuable research and hands-on training opportunities, and contributing to the university's ongoing refinement of its curricula.
AUS also registered good performance on the International outlook indicator. AUS has always strived to cultivate a diverse and inclusive campus community. AUS attracts students and faculty from over 90 nationalities, fostering a global learning environment through initiatives such as international co-authorship and study abroad programs.
