AUS students win honors in India management fest
Six students from American University of Sharjah (AUS) won honors in the Conscendo Management Fest held at Manipal University in Karnataka, India on January 22 and 23. Students on the AUS team were George Marachli, Ranin Hamdoun, Raghd Gomaa, Hussein Hamdoun, Mariam Khater and Rana Hamdan. They competed against students from 11 universities from across India in six management categories including best business manager, finance, human resources, public relations, logistics and marketing. AUS management student Gomaa won second place in the human resources category; and Gomaa, Marachli and Hamdoun reached the finals.
Conscendo is an annual intercollegiate management fest that creates a platform to test the brightest minds through a variety of highly intellectual, entertaining and challenging tasks. The tasks focused on knowledge and understanding of theory and its application in each category, spot assignments, financial reports, presentation skills, teamwork and strategies, quick decision making, creative solutions, handling pressure, and case studies followed by grilling interviews. Student's conceptual skills, creativity and soft skills were developed through the competition's exercises.
"We opened an opportunity for our students to create an understanding of the knowledge and experience of the business world in a different region. I am glad our students emerged successful at our first participation in the management fest. I congratulate our students for their achievements and thank the Student Council for its initiative in participating in this event," said Dr. Moza Al Shehhi, Dean of Students.
The students' participation was organized by the Office of Student Affairs and the Student Council.
