AUS students win at DFM Stock Exchange competition
Two American University of Sharjah (AUS) students were among the winners at the 2017 Dubai Financial Market (DFM) stock game competition held recently. More than 1,000 students from around the world participated in the fifteenth edition of the stock game.
Tarek Zubair and Khaled Abulfateh from the AUS School of Business Administration (SBA) won first and eighth place respectively. Zubair is the first AUS students to rank first in the game and received AED 15,000 while Abulfateh received AED 1,000 during the award ceremony.
Dr. Jorg Bley, Dean of SBA, praised the students' hard work and said, "I am very happy to hear that we have yet again showcased our students' outstanding capabilities. It is amazing what they can do with the guidance of highly qualified and committed faculty."
"Once again this year, our students were honored for their talent. This recognition is evidence of the high quality of students and faculty at SBA," said Dr. Anis Samet, Associate Professor of Finance at AUS who coached the students.
The competition aims to strengthen the financial knowledge and sharpen the skills and capabilities of business students to link their academic knowledge with the practical side of the capital markets.
