Industry expert delivers talk on AI
In an engaging lecture delivered at American University of Sharjah (AUS), various aspects of the increasingly influential fields of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and deep learning were analyzed by a seasoned veteran from the IT industry.
Raed Hijier, Senior Principal Engineer and Product Technologist at Dell, spoke about the ways in which enterprises across different industries are applying machine learning and deep learning to gain actionable insights from their increasing data to enhance their operational efficiency, increase productivity and become more competitive.
The lecture, entitled “Accelerating Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Deep Learning Adoption,” was organized by the AUS Department of Computer Science and Engineering in collaboration with IEEE—Computer Society and Association of Women Engineers.
In his presentation, Hijier discussed the basics of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and deep learning and their workflow, challenges, use cases, ecosystem and the hardware required to build a successful AI project. With more than 20 years of experience in the IT industry, Hijier has held many roles including as EMEA AI Lead, Workstation Specialist for MEA, Senior Technical Consultant, and System Lead Engineer among others. As a patented engineer, he has an in-depth experience with modern workloads and emerging technologies such as machine learning, deep learning, virtual and extended reality among others.
